How to Add Your Photos to the Flotilla 18-06 Photo Section
  1. Do Not Distribute Your Pictures Via the MEMBERS Distribution List!
It makes no sense to perform all the work necessary to publish photos that have already been sent to everyone.

  2. Try to shoot your pictures with at least 2 or 3 megapixel definition.
That way, folks can download the full size version of any that they like for sharper printing or more cropping.

  3. Prepare Your Pictures!   Crop and adjust your photos for brightness, etc. before submission.  But do not reduce the size or resolution of your pictures for Web use — that will be done automatically from your full size/res originals when the album is created.

  4. Rename the Files.   You may wish to make the filenames more descriptive.  Be sure to use underscores instead of any spaces.  Note that the pictures will be shown in alphanumeric order by filename, so you might wish to prefix the base filenames with sequential numbers (01-New_Member.jpg, 02-Class_Certificate.jpg, etc.) to force a particular order.  Please don't copy the files and then also send the original file names.

  5. EMail as a group all the pictures you want to be published as a single album to the 18-06 WEBMASTER.  For anything that is out of the ordinary or otherwise questionable it probably would be advisable to contact the 18-06 Flotilla Commander for review prior to starting the publishing effort.

If you think that the amount of disk space required for all the pictures may be excessive you make break the submittal into multiple parts.  Just be sure to indicate that there will be more files coming.  And try to do the same in the case when you know that one or more other submissions are likely to be provided on the same event by someone else.

  6. Once the new picture album has been generated you will be sent its link (URL).  This link is what should be distributed to the membership via the MEMBERS Distribution List — NOT all the pictures themselves as this is far more efficient as well as appreciated by those who can't handle large amounts of unsolicited data.

After successful review of the generated album you or the FC (as you may agree) can send out an announcement of the publishing of the new photo album, including its URL for direct opening by interested recipients.
